The days are a little longer & a little warmer; birds are chirping and snow begins to melt. Sweet springtime is on its way, and you know what that means… spring cleaning! I know, it’s not the most exciting activity especially with the weather starting to warm up, but it is necessary.

If you do it right, spring cleaning doesn’t have to take up an entire day or even weekend. With our tips on how to spring clean efficiently, you can spend less time dusting & more time enjoying the new season.

Stock Up On What You Need
You can’t begin the cleaning process if you don’t have to tools/equipment to do so. Think ahead! Consider purchasing or borrowing the following items:

  • Microfiber cloths
  • Vacuum cleaner with attachments
  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Bathroom cleaner
  • Wash cloths

Go Room By Room
You apartment unit might not be that big, but thinking about cleaning out all of the nooks and crannies can be overwhelming. It’s more approachable to tackle one room at a time. You will feel much more at ease when you can cross an entire room off of your list and move onto the next.
Pro Tip: Start with your least favorite room first! Leaving the most dreaded room till the very end isn’t your best move. You’ll be tired, unmotivated & have no patience for it.

Clutter Be Gone
It’s extremely difficult to thoroughly vacuum & dust with clutter everywhere. Before you grab your trusty vacuum or dust rag, go through each room and either put away, throw away or donate items that are laying around.

Recruit Help
If you have roommates, they should definitely pull their weight with spring cleaning! But if you live alone, you can always turn to friends or family members for help. Many hands make for light work!
If your recruits aren’t as excited as you are to freshen up your space, you may have to give them a little something in return. Free lunch or a promise to help them with their spring cleaning tasks are great starting points!
