The beloved holiday season has come to a close, the Christmas decorations are put away & now you don’t have an excuse to eat sugar cookies for breakfast. For those of us who live in the Midwest, we know that the 3ish month stretch from January to March can be a STRUGGLE. It’s cold, it’s dark, the weather is unpredictable and there really isn’t a lot going on (hello hibernation!). Instead of feeling stuck inside due to the weather, read through our tips on how you can make your apartment a cozy sanctuary you won’t want to leave.
- Bake Something
Comfort food is the easiest way create a cozy feeling. Even though chocolate chip cookie dough straight from the tub is heaven on earth, making from-scratch classics is all about the process. Flip through your favorite cook books or ask loved ones for recipes that have been passed down. Not only will your apartments smell incredible – but your efforts will be well worth the reward. YUM. - Stay Seasonal
Make the most of the season you’re in and take advantage of activities you can’t do when it’s summertime. Make a snow fort, go ice skating, try snow shoeing, or help out a neighbor by shoveling their driveway/sidewalk when it snows. Create your own magic in the most blah time of the year. - Break out the Board Games
Put down the devices & walk away from the screens, it’s time to gather round for some good ol’ fashion games. Whether you and your friends/family enjoy a competitive strategy-based board game or a game of Go Fish, there are endless options for everyone. To keep things simple, you can’t go wrong with a puzzle or a deck of cards.
4. Create the Cozy Texture
Plush pillows and fuzzy blankets make for an inviting atmosphere. Cover your furniture in as many soft fabrics and pillows as possible and snuggle in! While you’re at it you might as well binge watch your favorite TV series.. just to make sure that it’s cozy enough for you guests of course.
