Do you brace for impact when you open your cupboards? Find yourself playing Tetris your pots and pans? Is your kitchen in need of a little organization and TLC? Sometimes you have to get creative when organizing a small kitchen. Here are a few tips & tricks on how to maximize your apartment sized kitchen.

Take advantage of the top of your cabinets

The tops of your kitchen cabinets are more useful than you’d think! This area of your kitchen is prime real estate for your bulkier items. Stash your countertop appliances or extra pantry items up top! If you think storing these items on top of your cabinets will cause an eye sore, consider purchasing some stylish baskets to hide everything.

Put your windowsills to use

If you’re one of the lucky ones with an outdoor view from your kitchen, consider using that empty windowsill as storage. Fill that blank space with your favorite cookbooks, decorative glassware, spices or nick nacks.

Utility (bar) carts can be a savior

Utility carts can provide much needed storage space in your already crammed kitchen. Their footprint is small, but they still provide plenty of storage opportunities. Plus, you can give your kitchen some pizzaz. They come in many different colors, shapes and sizes.

Use other rooms

Think outside the box & utilize other rooms besides your kitchen to maximize storage space. Take advantage of that empty corner in your living room with an open shelving unit. You can use this as a place to keep your larger mixing bowls, electric stand mixer, cutting boards, serving platters, etc.

Cleaning an unorganized kitchen may seem like a dreadful chore at first. However, adding these simple tips and tricks to your culinary oasis can make things a lot less chaotic.

Happy organizing!
