It’s summertime and the weather is HOT, both inside and outside. When the temps are through the roof, it’s all about easy recipes, fresh ingredients and quick clean-up. Here are a few different ways you can keep cooking in the summer super simple!
Summertime Salads
When you hear the word “salad”, you may be thinking of soggy lettuce, thick/gloopy dressing and crunchy croutons. Have no fear, summertime salad ideas are here! Instead of my sad example above, think dark leafy greens, fresh herbs, vegetables from the garden and seasonal fruit. There are a ton of options and combinations out there. You could go with the classis potato or macaroni salad really get creative and incorporate some of your seasonal favorites such as peaches, asparagus, sweet corn, etc.
Stay Seasonal
Did you know that summertime is the largest growing season?! Let’s (temporarily) say “see you later!!” to frozen vegetables and canned fruit and “HELLO” to the wide variety of fresh produce at your local Farmers Market. Why eat seasonally? Well let me tell you – eating with the seasons aligns our bodies with nature, promotes sustainability, it’s healthier and it typically cheaper.
