It is officially summertime and many of us choose to spend the extra few hours of daylight outside. Dining alfresco is the perfect way to gather with loved ones, enjoy the nice weather, and eat a delicious meal. Follow these perfect picnic tips to make your experience one for the books!
Find the Perfect Spot
Nothing will influence a picnic more than its location. Look for a spot to squat that is scenic, shaded, and somewhat flat. Also, if you’ve got kids tagging along, make sure that there is plenty of space to run and play.
Pack a Strategic Basket
Similar to flying, you can only bring what fits. Woven baskets are traditional picnic attire, but I prefer a hard-sided cooler. Not only will it protect your belongings, but it also provides you with a flat surface, perfect for a table or seat. Bonus points if your cooler has wheels!
Picnic Friendly Foods
Like most grub filled gatherings; the menu is the main attraction. When planning what to bring think portable, easy to assemble, nutrition (not a requirement) & most importantly DELICOUS. Some of my picnic favorites are veggies & hummus, cheese & crackers, fruit, trail mix, wraps or sandwiches, pasta salad, cookies, and rice krispy treats!
Clean Up
Having good picnic manners means leaving your site in the same condition as you found it. All that’s required is a little preparation. Remember to pack everything you will need to clean up from your festivities. For example, be sure to put a garbage bag (or two) & disinfectant wipes on your packing list.
